The Brit and Grammy award-winner Amy Winehouse was found dead in her North London home on Saturday, July 23, 2011. Winehouse had struggled with drink and drug addiction for many years and is one of a curiously high number of prominent artists to pass away at age 27, including Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin. Winehouse's music often focused on drinking, drugs and infidelity. Her hit song, "Rehab," echoed her own life and turmoil through its lyrics: "They tried to make me go to rehab; I said no, no, no." During her short career, Winehouse received 23 awards from 58 nominations, and sold over 8 million records. Winehouse's distinctive style made her a muse for fashion designers such as Karl Lagerfeld. RIP Amy, you will be missed.
